It is Time to Say Goodbye

I am not very good at goodbyes so I will just get to the point... I have decided to stop blogging.

When I began blogging almost two years ago I had no idea what I was doing or where my blog would take me.  Nor did I realize just how time consuming it would become.

There are certain issues in my life taking my time away from my blog as well as yours.  There are also other areas in my life I need to put more time and effort into and, in determing what changes needed to be made to accommodate that need, it became clear I had to stop blogging.

While I was on my vacation I prayed and thought about this decision long and hard and feel it is the correct decision.

While I have enjoyed "meeting" so many like-minded people and learning new and/or better ways to do my DIY projects, I find I am just not able to give your blogs, let alone my own, the attention they deserve.

I cannot say at this time whether I will resume blogging at a later time.

Although I will not be blogging, it is my hope I will get to the point that I will be able to visit and comment on your posts when time permits.

I thank all of you who gave me such wonderful support last year when my mother was diagnosed with cancer and for rejoicing with me this year when we celebrated a year of her being cancer free.  I cannot convey how much it meant to me and my family.

I thank the prayer warriors who responded to my requests for prayers over the past two years.

I thank those of you who stuck with me throughout the past two years as well as my newest followers.  Your support and guidance have meant a lot to me.

It has been a fun two years and I have enjoyed each and every moment.   I wish you all the best and hope all your projects are successful!

I could not say goodbye to you without the help of my Little Darling!

Hugs,

Our Maine Adventures - Great State of Maine Air Show & Business Aviation Expo (NASB)

Along with my parents, aunt and her fiance, Little Darling and I attended the Great State of Maine Air Show & Business Aviation Expo held at the newly opened Brunswick Executive Airport formerly the Naval Air Station Brunswick (it closed earlier this year), which is now called Brunswick Landing.

Little Darling was getting a bit cranky after we arrived so after we found a place to set up our chairs, he and I walked around until he fell asleep.

After a short but restorative nap, we both enjoyed the show.  We were entertained by the following:
  • US Army Golden Knights - The US Army’s eight-way skydiving team.
  • US Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II Team - “The A/OA-10 Thunderbolt II is the first Air Force Aircraft specially designed for close air support of ground forces. They are simple, effective and survivable twin-engine jet aircraft that can be used against all ground targets, including tanks and other armored vehicles."
  • USAF Heritage Flight – “The Heritage Flight program was founded in 1997, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force. Heritage Flight formations of vintage aircraft alongside contemporary fighters serve as a living memorial to the men and women of the USAF past and present.”
  • Mike Goulian Aerosports – “An aerobatic aviator, air show performer and general aviation advocate”
  • Geico Skytypers – “Creators of the world’s largest messages in the sky. The flight squadron is comprised of six vintage WWII airplanes.”
  • Julie Clark's American Aerobatics – “Julie Clark flies her CHEVRON MENTOR T-34 with exceptional skill in her unique and patriotic aerobatic routine.”
  • Greg Shelton Air Shows – Greg Shelton flew the 1943 Super Stearman with wing-walker Ashley Battles.
  • Dan Marcotte Air Shows - This was his first debut at the air show with his Ultimate Biplane.
  • Wounded Warrior Flight Team – “The Wounded Warrior Flight Team provides friendship and opportunity for Wounded Warriors through flight and career training, and job placement.”
  • US Navy Blue Angels - The rock stars of the Air Show world wowed us with their sleek F/A-18 Hornets to demonstrate their amazing formation and solo skills flying just under the speed of sound.

Mike Goulian is a wildman!  At times, it was if he made his plane dance in the sky other times, he did some  amazing death defying stunts.  Of course, as amazing and fantastic as all the shows were, nothing compares to the awesome US Navy Blue Seals!  They put on a heck of a show!

The following pictures are a bit out of order because they were taken by two different cameras.

This is the wing-walker Ashley Battles.  She performed stunts on the wings of a 1943 Super Stearman flown by Greg Shelton.

Okay, so this car has absolutely nothing to do with the air show except that the owner attended it and that I really, really, really like the car!

So, as you can see, we had a fabulous time at the air show.  I love going to air shows and since I now know Little Darling does too, I will take him to the one held locally.  Since he liked the air show so much, I am thinking he might also like drag racing and classic/vintage auto racing.  When my boys were little I had a couple of friends who had antique cars they showed and raced.  The boys loved going to those shows but it has been years since I have done that.  There are speedways in our area so I will put that on our list of things to do.
